Why We Need You

Are you passionate about all aspects of social media - creating great content, engaging with stakeholders, and bringing a data-driven approach to optimize social strategies? If so, you’re the right person to join us at PagerDuty as a Social Media Specialist who will attract and interact with targeted social communities, users, and influencers. The goal of this role is to create a best-in-class social media function, and you will be using social media to help build the PagerDuty brand, dynamically engage with followers and prospective followers, increase website traffic, attract talent to PagerDuty, and assist the Marketing team in driving revenue by strategically leveraging all aspects of social media marketing.

The ideal candidate has experience developing and executing social media strategies for companies in the B2B space, ideally in enterprise tech. Working as part of our Corporate Communications team, the successful candidate has the opportunity to lead social media initiatives, collaborate with various teams at PagerDuty, and be a key player delivering against a metrics-driven integrated comms and marketing strategy. This is a fast-paced role in a high-growth organization with a great team. 

How You Contribute to Our Vision

  • Build and execute channel-specific social media strategies informed by competitive and peer research, platform evaluation and determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience and influencer identification
  • Generate, edit, publish, and share daily content (e.g., original text, images, video) that builds meaningful connections and encourages followers to take action
  • Create and maintain social media calendars
  • Build campaigns around events, themes, launches, and key programs to sustain engagement and drive share of voice
  • Ensure audience engagement by joining trending conversations, sharing high-value content, and responding to inbound messages
  • Understand our different audiences on our corporate social channels (e.g., customers, employees, and users, both current and prospective)
  • Support employee advocacy program through generating shareable social media copy for our employee base to share with their respective networks
  • Update social tracking and listening for use in campaign programs, sales support, events
  • Continuously improve our social strategies by capturing and analyzing the appropriate social data, metrics, insights, and best practices, and then acting on the information
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Demand Generation, Public Relations, Analyst Relations, Field Marketing, Community, Sales, Customer Marketing, Product Marketing) and executive spokespeople to manage reputation, identify key players, and coordinate actions

About You

  • 2-3 years previous professional experience in Communications, Public Relations, Social Media (B2B or a developer-focused company experience a plus)
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social tools knowledge
  • An eye for detail and an ability to write for a tech-focused audience
  • Knowledge of online marketing and solid understanding of major marketing channels
  • Positive attitude, detail- and customer-oriented, with strong multitasking and organizational abilities
  • A great connector and communicator - an ability to think about how your work supports and connects to the work of other teams and vice versa
  • Fantastic organizational skills and an ability to balance the big picture with getting the smaller, equally important things right
  • You are metrics- and numbers-oriented, including the ability to generate reports that will be shared widely in the organization
  • At your core, you are willing to experiment, know a thing or two about A-B testing, and are always thinking about the best channel to tell our story

Job Skills

  • Social Media Experience: You’ve managed social channels before and know best practices across each of the major social channels. 
  • Writing: You need to know how to write effective copy in a variety of different styles for the major social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Knowledge of writing for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is also needed.
  • Research: You need to be knowledgeable about the fast-changing world of social and digital media. You will also monitor key competitor social media activities.
  • Problem-Solving: You will determine how to best communicate a company's message on different platforms, and sometimes might need to convey sensitive information.
  • Organization: There are many different platforms, and new ones are being developed all the time. Channel-specific communications and reporting require organization.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Even through writing, you will be a direct connection between the company and the public. Being friendly, approachable, and professional online is critical.

The base salary range for this position is 78,000 - 119,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
