Software Developer

SUMMARY

The software developer role is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for the UI and back-end API of the Unified Dashboard team. The UDB Application manages projects being worked on by authors including editing, configuring, error handling, and publishing. It's a hub used by all five our major lines of businesses and is an important application that springboards the users to different areas within our Content Ecosystem. The position demands someone who responds well to challenges, can communicate effectively with team members, will absorb and understand complex problems, and guide scalable, reliable solutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with cross-functional offshore teams (including development staff, TPM, and QA) in the design and implementation of all team deliverables.

Serves as the primary onshore technical resource in support of the applications during US business hours. Will be able to provide hands-on support and the technical expert in understanding the inner workings of the team's services and tools and how they interface with other systems.

• Works with all team members to organize multiple workstreams, clarify complex problems and issues and increase the efficiency of the team's work.
• Create solutions by partnering with architects and peer team leads responsible for other domains to understand how best to leverage existing capabilities and APIs.
• Works with product stakeholders to help decompose requirements into manageable stories and tasks for the offshore team and assist in the estimation of those stories
• Works with DevOps teams to ensure CI/CD pipeline is streamlined and reliable -- also engages with DevOps teams to ensure scalability and availability are up to standards via monitoring/alerting, auto-scaling, and infrastructure-as-code practices are followed.
• Ensures that code adheres to strict standards for accessibility, security, object-oriented practices and performance
• Other duties as assigned
• Actively participates in requirements, architecture, and design meetings
• Writes documentation for both internal and external consumers, covering design artifacts, code, and fixes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Expert knowledge required in the following areas:

• React.js/Redux/Javascript/UI
• Node.js
• Asynchronous programming including Promises, async/await, and ES7 generators, along with state management using Redux and Observables.
• Knowledge in core Java/J2EE technologies such as spring core and spring boot is required.
• HTML/CSS
• REST
• Microservice Architecture
• Unit Testing / Test Coverage

Significant experience or knowledge required in the following areas:

• MongoDB
• AWS architecture
• Continuous Integration/Build Automation
• Agile development
