About the Role:
At Upgrade, the Platform team works horizontally with our different engineering teams. We build tools and shared libraries to simplify / abstract / speedup the day to day of our developers.
As part of the Platform group, the infrastructure squad is responsible for multiple tools used by our product teams to build, test and ship their services up to production.
We are looking for a passionate and curious software engineer to help drive the Platform roadmap at Upgrade. You'll have the opportunity to learn and work with different programming languages, on different technologies. Join us!
Projects in flight:

  • Renovate our build and deployment infrastructure (we are moving to a continuous deployment world)
  • Improvement of supply chain security through the Supply Chain Levels for Software Artifacts (SLSA) framework
  • Mergebot, an entity which is in charge of automatically merge or decline pull requests depending on a set of policies (moving from JavaScript to Golang)
  • Improve our internal tool used to provision Kubernetes development stacks on demand
  • Automate the setup and initial deployment of new microservices using the Backstage developer portal and Argo workflows
  • Building a new Schema Registry for our GraphQL Federation initiative


What You’ll Do: 

  • Help drive one of our 2023 goals (see above)
  • Code new tools and new features to existing tools that improve developer productivity and efficiency
  • Collaborate with different engineering teams to identify how our platform is helping them and ongoing areas for improvement
  • Help with troubleshooting and problem solving


What We Look For: 

  • 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Java, Golang, Node.js
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes
  • Previous experience working in microservices architecture and understanding of the challenges that come with it
  • Basic AWS knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
