Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

About the Role 

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will play a critical role in the development and success of the engineering department’s test automation and continuous integration efforts. You will partner closely with Development and Operations teams to facilitate continuously improving development and release processes and tools. 

What You’ll Do 

• Work closely with development and operations engineers to establish automation strategies and tools that drive efficient and high-quality development and releases. 
• Identify, report, and assist engineers in resolving defects and verifying bug fixes.
• Develop, maintain and update test harness and associated test frameworks in partnership with development.
• Test APIs, user interfaces, web services, and low-level components and infrastructure
• Work with development to make suggestions to make applications architecture and design more testable
• Work with operations to improve testability and automation across CI/CD pipelines and other infrastructure components
• Develop standalone tools, plugins, and services required for testing or automation

What We’re Looking for 

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience creating and executing tests for complex, feature-rich applications and services on different test levels (Unit, Integration,  API, UI testing)
• Must be able to demonstrate expertise with functional and unit testing platforms
• Good understanding of TDD, Refactoring and other development concepts
• Solid understanding of OOD and SOLID design principles
• Understanding of basic architecture principles and architecture design and how it affects testing
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts and practices
• Proven experience in creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure for automation and testing
• Demonstrated experience with managing and maintaining automated testing frameworks and tools used across teams 
• Knowledge of database concepts and query languages (SQL)
• Ability to develop basic websites, services, desktop apps
• Strong understanding of various QA methodologies (black box and white box testing) and SDLC
• Strong understanding of client-server technologies and testing challenges
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience collaborating with multiple groups across disciplines
• Experience working in and understanding of the benefits of agile development
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience 

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux
• Experience with Cloud and testing in a Cloud environment
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with internationalization and website localization processes
