About the Team
We are recruiting a Software Engineer with a strong background in Frontend technologies for the Compensation Management Team. Paylocity's compensation management module helps organizations optimize their spending and promote employee engagement and retention through pay transparency. We enable an easy way to allocate budgets that align with business goals and help supervisors reward their employees. We give the insights needed to pay employees fairly and accurately. We are part of the Product Engineering functional group within our larger Product & Technology organization.
What you will do
  • Recommend and implement improvements to team core processes
  • Complete stories or subtasks where the approach is less defined, however, the outcome is clearly defined
  • Work with senior team members to pressure test their design or approach.
  • Propose appropriate scope adjustments centered on delivering the right client outcome while considering technical debt impacts.
  • Understand a large code base to contribute to it and understand existing designs and technology choices to make appropriate adjustments to existing designs
  • Ensure the code exhibits good separation of concerns
  • Work within the scope of a team with specific guidance from the manager and collaborate with team members
  • Find innovative ways to increase the quality and velocity of your work
  • Demonstrate software quality through unit and integration test automation
  • Strengthen your team by sharing your knowledge and interests with others
  • Build relationships and communicate with various types and levels of stakeholders across the organization
  • Analyze and spearhead improvements to the systems and software that are important to your team
  • Manage risks, escalate priorities, and help resolve issues that could impact production quality

What you will bring
  • Passion for user experience and application performance
  • Demonstrable knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, Javascript/Typescript, React and Redux
  • Experience developing highly interactive applications
  • A firm grasp of object-oriented analysis and design
  • Passion for writing great, simple, clean, efficient code
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science, engineering, technology-related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience preferred with full-stack web development with a strong focus on Frontend
  • Experience with unit testing and integration test automation
  • Prior experience with .NET or Java
  • Exposure to working with relational databases
  • Versed with Systems Architecture and developer tools
  • Some experience working with modern REST API standards and concepts
  • Must be adaptable to change and have a willingness to learn
  • Must have a strong sense of curiosity
  • Must be able to work effectively in an agile and team environment
  • Must be effective and creative in problem-solving
  • Able to work off-hours and weekends as the need arises

Nice to have
  • Good knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
  • Cloud experience (AWS)

What success looks like
As a Software Engineer within the Compensation Management Product domain, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in the development and support of our Product within a collaborative team environment. Your role is key in the delivery of new initiatives, engaging in collaborative discussion amongst the group on the most technically sound approach forward, and contributing to our SDLC to deliver new capabilities. You'll work side-by-side with Product Owners, Software Test Engineers, and Business Stakeholders, and be actively involved in an agile software development environment.
Within the Compensation Management team, you'll have the opportunity to be involved in our path towards product modernization, delivering exciting new product capabilities, and working to solve key architectural challenges that will enable future growth and scale.

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $146,189/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
