Airbyte is the open-source standard for EL(T). We enable data teams to replicate data from applications, APIs, and databases to data warehouses, lakes, and other destinations. The number of possible data integrations is growing at a faster rate than any single engineering team can support: new APIs, filesystems, and databases are born every day. We believe that in order to build thousands of high quality data integrations, we need to provide tools which minimize the effort required to build and maintain them. As such, Airbyte’s Connector Development Kit (CDK) is key to Airbyte’s goal of being the only ETL platform that can support all of a user’s connectors.The CDK will make it so easy to build a connector that it would be possible for anyone who wants to move data to do so in a UI in a no-code way. The CDK will be your leverage to help our community and engineers build out connectors. You will be building the connector factory that will bring Airbyte from 150 to 500 connectors in 2022, and thousands in 2023.

What You’ll Do
- Drive projects that make Airbyte the best tool for developing API source connectors
- Take Airbyte’s Python Connector Development Kit (CDK) to the next level in terms of features, usability, and performance
- Build leverage via engineering: a week-long project this month should be a ten minute task next month
- Guide product decisions and the team roadmap with engineering perspective
- Embed or rotate into the platform teams to execute on cross-cutting projects
- Engage with the open-source community via Github, Slack, or community events
- Grow your teammates through mentorship
What You'll Need
- Experience with creating developer-focused frameworks and tools (such as shared or open source libraries or CLIs) is a plus!
- 4+ years of software engineering experience. Hiring at all experienced levels!
- A user-centric approach to building products and developer tools
- Proficiency in Python or Java
- You enjoy building abstractions & tools which multiply output
- Excited to work remote
- Excellent communication skills
- A passion for continuous learning and improvement (both at a personal and team level)
