The Role 
At Lark, conversations are the core of our user experience and are the primary way we influence behavior, at scale, for millions of members. As a Conversation Engineer you will think deeply about conversational user experience but more importantly, build and test clean and scalable implementations of those conversations. An individual in this role is responsible for working closely with both conversation designers and engineers across backend, frontend, and mobile domains to create and implement conversational flows using custom tools and the domain-specific language (DSL) developed by Lark. This role requires confidence/experience in JavaScript, as well as general engineering principles (e.g. reusability, testability, readability, etc.).

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with conversation designers, product managers, and backend, frontend, and mobile engineers to design and architect new, effective coaching conversations
• Implement conversational content in code using JavaScript and internal tools
• Write automated tests for implemented conversations and functions
• Work cross-functionally with both highly technical and non-technical team members
• Support Lark’s company mission by improving user outcomes, delivering engaging content that drives behavior change

What You’ll Need

• Experience writing and designing automated tests (unit, system-level integration, and end-to-end tests), with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
• Interest in product and user experience
• Ability to learn fast and adapt based on feedback
• Strong experience with JavaScript, version control, complex data structures, and architecture design
• Nice to have: experience with TypeScript, Java, scripting, and working with databases

Working at Lark 

Lark offers the option to work remotely in the United States.  For Colorado Applicants only: minimum annual salary is $103,000 (minimum salary varies for other geographies). You may also be offered a bonus, stock options, and/or benefits. The company is headquartered in Mountain View, CA.
