Our new Customer Support Engineering team is one of the most customer-impacting, cross-functionally collaborating teams in the company - owning tactical and strategic engineering efforts to make every customer happy, safe and trusting in Whatnot.

As an early member of this new product engineering team, you’ll be working with teams across the business. Armed with deep customer insights, you will define and develop effective, world-class customer support experiences, features and technology which drive top-line customer satisfaction metrics for the company. You’ll be challenged as a Software engineer - making contributions across multiple software projects, our apps, data systems and more. You’ll figure out how to make things work on a near–daily basis. 

Curious about who thrives at Whatnot? We’ve found that low ego, a growth mindset, and leaning into action and high impact goes a long way here. As a founding member of this new team, you should have 5+ years of backend or generalist software development experience in high growth startups, plus:

• You can write code, ideally across the stack - (we primarily use Python, Elixir, React, JavaScript, Swift on iOS, Kotlin on Android - these aren’t pre-requisite skills, but we think you’ll pick a few of them up).
• Excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution.
• You’re an excellent problem solver, and can ship features fast.
• You’re open to doing work at any part of the stack, even in projects and languages you’re not familiar with. 
• Ability to pick up on new technologies very quickly.
• An interest or experience in Machine Learning solution development.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

For US-based applicants: $178,000/year to $235,000/year + benefits + stock options

The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity in the form of stock options.
