MOO set out to shake up the world of print back in 2006. And we’ve come a long way since. Today we’re a 400 + strong team (we’re thinking of getting matching jackets) who create print and digital products for companies of all sizes – from Google and AirBnB to the guy who makes those amazing prints you found at a craft fair.Â

Our global HQ is in London, UK, while we also have premises in Dagenham. In the US, you’ll find us in Boston, MA, as well as East Providence, RI and Denver, CO.

Please note, this is UK based remote role and all candidates must be eligible to work full time and be situated within the UK.
We are the Buy team which falls within our larger Commercial Tech team and focuses on merchandise product data, payments, identity and the checkout customer journey for our customers across all of our platforms.
We are one of several teams working on MOO's global e-commerce web platform. Along with other teams, we own and operate MOO's primary sales channel that supports its $100M+ revenue business.

We are expanding our technology teams and looking for a Backend Engineer to join our team which covers critical stages in our customers' ecommerce journey.
The main function of the Buy team is developing & supporting the systems and user experiences around:
- Account management
- Cart
- Payment processing
As this is such a key part of the user journey, we have ensured our systems are very user friendly whilst being super powerful to support the required volume of customer traffic.
You'll have access to various learning resources such as AWS immersion days, access to Pluralsight and a training budget to use as you prefer within your dedicated learning and development time.
The person we want:
- Is experienced in supporting mature platforms
- Understands the importance of code quality and testing and is willing to own that code
- Is willing to work in a team and work closely with key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery
- Learning and growth are key to our culture, so we will be looking for examples of where you have challenged yourself and learned a new tool, skill, or way of working
Responsibilities:
- Fully test your applications using unit, integration, and functional testingÂ
- Contribute to your team via pair programming, code reviews, knowledge sharing and team demos
- Participate in design sessions, follow engineering best practices and the MOO Engineering principles to ensure high standards are maintained
- Leverage best practices in testing, continuous integration and delivery
- Participate in identifying and eliminating technical debt
- Collaborate with other engineers, across teams, on a variety of projects
- Continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new product objectives
- Provide adhoc support to our internal stakeholders and champion improvement ideas
About you:
- You have significant experience in the following technologies: Java, Spring
- You have experience building and consuming REST APIs
- You have strong unit and integration testing skills
- You are used to working with Git based source control systems
- You have proven experience supporting and enhancing mature applications
- You care about great user experience for our customers and stakeholders and want to collaborate with other engineers to achieve this
- You are self-motivated and a team player
- You are constantly looking to expand your knowledge and skills
Nice to haves:
- Experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD operations and Terraform would be a bonus
- Experience working HTML / CSS / JS
- Familiarity with SLO and error budget creation / monitoring
- Experience of working with Payment Service providers
