Software Engineer/Computer Scientist REMOTE
KBR is looking for a part-time Software Engineer/Computer Scientist to support the Operational Based Vision Assessment laboratories. The Software Engineer/Computer Scientist will focus on aviation simulation platforms for cutting edge vision science research and development of future head mounted display technologies.
The role centers around a unique virtual world flight simulator system called XRES (Extended Reality Experimental Simulator). The Software Engineer/Computer Scientist Additional will also create and support unique code for lab activities, direct support and development of internal use software and on-of-a-kind multi-platform integration solutions for experiments and prototyping in proof-of-concept research efforts.
No Travel required. Up to 20 hours per week. Remote work position.

MS in Computer Science or related field
Prior experience with realistic Flight Control Software development and integration
Computational Mathematics
Knowledge of discrete control, reactive systems, automated planning and scheduling, formal methods
Working knowledge of C++ language standards
Experience:
Software automation, aerospace, programming language design and implementation
Developing C++, Python, MATLAB code for delivery on multiple platforms
Developing cross-platform build scripts
Programming languages: Shell scripting, Java, XSLT
Developing real time OS applications
With Agile software development methodologies

Responsibilities will include:
- Maintenance, development, extension, and documentation of the XRES suite: compilers, translators, visualization tools, human operator interactions and data collection, etc.
- Exploration and research of new or alternative technologies for research experimentation with human subjects for future aviation warfighting systems and Major Weapon Systems (MWS)
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- BS in Computer Science or a related field
- 2 + years of professional software development experience
- Expertise in C++ and Python programming and object-oriented design and integration
- MATLAB, Unity and Gaming Engine Experience
- Strong aptitude in software development, integration, and documentation
- Must be able to work independently and take full ownership of a project
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
