Software Engineering, Architect

Dandelion’s mission is to liberate homes from fossil fuels. We’re starting by transitioning geothermal heat pumps from a niche product into a mainstream home heating product that’s less expensive to own than a furnace or boiler. We’re building a software team to automate and simplify the design and installation of heat pumps so that installing a heat pump becomes as simple as installing a furnace is today.

To provide technical leadership in this work, Dandelion is hiring a Software Engineering Tech Lead with a proven track record of successfully leading Software Development teams’ technical and architectural decision making. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop the architecture, technical vision and corresponding strategy for software at Dandelion.
• Perform level-of-effort analyses to support the product team in deciding when to build software in-house and when to buy and integrate. 
• Ensure Dandelion’s technical decisions scale appropriately with the size and complexity of the business.
• Provide technical mentorship to team members.
• Partner closely with the Engineering Manager to scale an excellent team of high potential engineers. 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of professional experience as a Tech Lead or Architect.
• Experience growing and developing teams; experience with outsourced developer teams is a plus.
• Experience successfully producing software products in a startup environment.
• Excellent organization, prioritization, written and verbal communication skills.
• Full stack web development, including JavaScript, database design, web-standards, and modern frameworks
• Experience with one or more front-end frameworks. Extensive experience with Angular is preferred.
• Experience designing, building and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Excellent Node or Python development experience
• Expertise with cloud services. Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform is a bonus.
