Podium’s mission is to become the premier operating system for local businesses. Today, our core feature-set revolves around tools that help local businesses interact with their customers – think managing conversations and messages, running marketing campaigns, powering phone calls, payments and managing reviews.
We’re looking for an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead our Messaging team. As the engineering leader for this team, you’d be responsible for enabling high reliability for Podium’s core messaging services and unlocking innovation for the rest of the teams in Podium. You’d coach a strong engineering team and help define and champion the team vision. You’d build relationships with Data Engineering, Site Reliability, QA, and Product to accomplish great work. This team and its leadership will be instrumental in helping Podium achieve its mission of powering millions of local businesses around the world.
What you will be doing:
- Develop a vision for the team, working cross-functionally with product managers, UX designers, and internal stakeholders.
- Partner closely with product and design to create a balanced roadmap that creates value for product teams and reduces technical debt.
- Roll up your sleeves and work with team members to remove roadblocks to achieving the team's commitments
- Help the team to prioritize work that will have an impact for our customers.
- Foster an environment of psychological safety through clear feedback and transparency.
- Build a diverse team through internal development and external hiring.
What you should have:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years experience as a software engineer, working in production quality applications.
- 4+ years of serving in an engineering management role.
- Technical knowledge, familiarity with backend architecture, and management skills to mentor and develop your team.
- Experience working across team and organizational boundaries in a fast-moving environment.
- A growth mindset and a track record of building high performing teams that achieve ambitious goals.
- Ability to operate with radical candor, care personally about your team and provide clear actionable feedback.
