Job Description
A Software Integration Engineer at STR will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and engineers dedicated to developing cutting-edge analytics technologies for signal exploitation and tracking. We seek applicants with minimum 2-5 years of work experience who are proficient at programming in C++ and Python for building software tools and distributed applications. We expect the software systems we develop and deliver to meet standards of quality, maintainability, and reuse. Therefore, experience with sound software engineering principles as well as software unit test tools and methodologies is valuable. Work will take place onsite in STR's Woburn or Arlington office.
Duties will include:
- Working as part of a small, focused team to develop, implement, and test distributed applications using modular software design principles
- Implementing composable software components in Python, C, C++, and/or MATLAB software processing chains
- Delivering quality software through the practice of unit-level and system-level tests and verification, as well as bug/issue tracking and resolution
- Developing scalable integrated software systems using virtualization tools and networking/messaging technologies
- Enabling ease and speed of deployment with use of automation scripts, software infrastructure management tools
- Developing and testing integrated software systems to meet speed and scalability requirements
- Packaging software for easy of configuration control, delivery, and deployment
- Participating in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze real-world data for software verification, validation, and improvement
Required skills:
- An active Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience (or an MS with 2 years)
- Expertise with C and/or C++
- Proficiency in Python
- Proficient with virtualization technologies (e.g., Docker, QEMU), compiler technologies (e.g., GCC, Clang), software scripting and build automation tools (e.g., bash, make)
- Experience with network communications frameworks (e.g., TCP/IP sockets)
- Applied skills with collaborative source code management and software engineering tools (Git, Subversion, Gitlab)
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Agile lifecycle methodologies and tools and/or a DevSecOps environment
- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or other relational databases
- Demonstrated expertise in integration of capabilities spanning disparate development platforms and languages
- Prior participation in an open-source community
