The Opportunity

This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We're revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

This position is responsible for representing test engineering throughout the Software Development Lifecycle. This role contributes to both the product development but also to the SDLC Agile process. As a Software Test Engineer, your tasks will include mentoring junior members of the team and ensuring the correct procedures and processes are being followed for both software quality and compliance. #software

What you'll work on

• Complete device software testing and activities for development user stories within an Agile SDLC process
• Review System Specifications/Requirements documents, user stories and create verification test cases (based on those requirements), and execute test cases
• Investigate and report unexpected events, issues or software bugs. Verify fixes
• Perform exploratory testing, system level end to end testing, develop test datasets and execute automation scripts (to ensure application software releases are of high quality)
• Create verification and validation test plans, test reports, trace matrices and review with relevant stakeholders (dev and quality)
• Review deliverables/activities as identified in the test plans for accuracy, consistency, completeness and compliance. Ensure adequate test coverage for every release
• Review code diff analysis and develop robust regression test strategy
• Mentor and provide day-to-day guidance to the junior members of the software test team. Review work to ensure compliance and quality
• Provide feedback and suggest improvements to the Agile SDLC process

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in Computer Science or related engineering field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 5 years both overall and any industry-specific experience needed
