About This Position

Intersect’s first portfolio of assets has been completed comprising a combined 2.2GW of PV and 1.4GWh of co-located BESS capacity in CAISO and ERCOT. Multiple portfolios in various stages of planning will follow in the coming years with other PV and BESS generating assets in addition to clean energy assets including Green Hydrogen, Ammonia, and Methanol. The Market Risk team is hiring a Specialist, to support the day to day risk management of our operating assets and associated trading activities in addition to building and maintaining risk management tools using Python, Plotly Enterprise, and PowerBI primarily.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Running and reporting on VaR, CVaR, and MTM models
• Validating executed trades entered into Trade Capture Systems
• Monitor risk limits against risk management policies
• Facilitate the timely and accurate coordination of collateral management between counterparties and Intersect Power’s Treasury function 
• Monitor MTM of assets and report values daily
• Confirming trade entry and providing confirmation notices to counterparties
• Building and improving short-term optimization risk management tools
• Collaboration with other teams on data collection/analysis/reporting initiatives/data science

Qualifications and Skills

• Front-end and back-end Python programming skills ( Fluency in Pandas, NumPy, SK-Learn, Statsmodels, Scipy, Dash/ Plotly)
• Advanced knowledge of time-series modeling and stochastic processes
• Practical understanding of VaR, MVaR and Expected Shortfall / CVaR
• Working knowledge SQL required; familiarity with Trade Capture Systems and Google’s Cloud Platform is preferred Experience working on / with trading teams
• Commercially-minded with an understanding nature of business/revenue generation
• Solid understanding U.S. power and gas markets
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• 2+ years of experience in a quantitative role
• Experience building and monitoring a Monte Carlo VaR platform
• Masters Degree in quantitative discipline preferred

• Salary: $80,000- $90,000 USD base salary with 25-35% annual target bonus ( we will use conversion rate to CAD at 1.3544 for Canadian citizens)
