The Opportunity
This position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the Nutrition Division.
The Opportunity
The Specialist Project Management (PLM) will support Devex system improvement and functional business area training, and the integrity and sustainability of global product master data in order to deliver Abbott Nutrition business objectives.
This individual will support the implementation, documentation, training and sustainability of the system in direct coordination with the OnePLM program, cross-functional teams driving New Product Development, and Corporate IT.
This role will proactively provide insight to Abbott Nutrition functional areas on how to best develop and leverage Devex system & process capabilities for the organization; and update business processes and policies to achieve the best outputs from the system.
What You'll Work On
System Utilization

- Develops a detailed working knowledge of Devex to be able to assist users with challenges as they arise and clarify processes requiring longer term resolution.
- Solicits and receives feedback from the business areas and initiates new process improvements as required
Technical Consultant
- Applies advanced technology and manufacturing knowledge to Devex system projects.
- Leads advanced independent or multidisciplinary projects, led by specific prioritized business needs. Interacts with other functions and shares information. Provides technical direction and feedback to others, sharing knowledge throughout the organization.
- Understands the specific challenges and opportunities linked to regulatory, legal, medical safety, nutrition science, manufacturing and analytical chemistry requirements.
Business Process Definition & Training
- Translates business and user needs into system requirement specifications. Acts as the key interface between business and technology teams in defining and influencing business requirements and assisting in developing the appropriate system solutions - including analysis and documentation of business needs, and translation into system enhancements.
- Supports the creation of user guides, references and tools to facilitate ongoing use of the Devex system; and compliance to supporting business practices.
- Develops metrics and reports to demonstrate alignment of Product Lifecycle Management improvement goals towards Abbott Nutrition business objectives.
Position Accountability / Scope
- Is accountable for timely completion of complex and multiple global projects; typically assumes broader divisional roles of responsibility.
- Routinely provides analyses and advice to management. Will provide technical direction and feedback to others and share knowledge throughout the organization.
- Has a direct contact with outside consultants, key vendors and technical counterparts from other Divisions and companies.
- Identifies opportunities with business and OnePLM team to improve future state of OnePLM at Abbott Nutrition.
- Assumes leading role in OnePLM/Devex Communities of Practices
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU'LL BRING
Required:
Education:
- BS / MS - in nutritional Food Science or in a related scientific/engineering field with 5+ years progressive practical related experience sufficient to demonstrate equivalency.
- Training on applicable standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritional products
Preferred:
- Has advanced understanding of types of ingredients, packaging, finished products and processing requirements for commercial manufacture in supported facilities and can communicate this knowledge to internal or external teams.
- Has knowledge on the supported manufacturing plants and processes.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and interact with all levels of internal and external management
- Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural influence and networking skills. Effective facilitation/mediation and conflict resolution skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Hands on experience with Devex, SAP, MES, LIMS and other Abbott Nutrition business applications.
- Direct experience with external supplier management.
