WELCOME TO THE EMPIRE! Sportsbook Manager is responsible for effectively managing operations at the sportsbook, by fostering a high-performing, welcoming environment focused on providing superior customer service and ensuring all regulatory compliance, AML/BSA reporting practices, policies, and procedures are adhered to.
DIRECTLY SUPERVISES (PLEASE LIST POSITION TITLES):
Assistant Manager(s), Supervisors, Ticket writers
Essential Job FUNCTIONS:
  • Effectively manage the day-to-day activities and business levels of the sportsbook, including but not limited to:
    • Hiring, scheduling, training, and mentoring of staff
    • Ensuring Sportsbook staff is operating in a manner that follows Company policies and procedures
    • Ensuring compliance of all state gaming agency regulations and applicable federal rules and regulations
  • Demonstrate leadership and ensure operational effectiveness to yield success
  • Generate opportunities to maximize handle, profitability, and promotion of the Brand
  • Develop relationships with customers and ensure they feel welcomed by all team members, whether patronage is regular or infrequent, by promoting superior customer service
  • Ensure betting control guidelines are adhered to within the sportsbook.
  • Foster an environment focused on regulatory compliance and proper AML/BSA reporting practices and providing necessary Coaching and Discipline, as needed
  • Develop skills and knowledge of the sportsbook team
  • Plan and execute an effective staffing model, keeping in line with an approved budget
  • Manage all aspects of sports betting equipment, escalating as necessary
  • Provide support to team members to handle customer complaints/disputes
  • Oversee day-to-day operational tasks (ex. Kiosk drops, cash accountability, managing of supplies, monitoring sheets, forms, etc.)
  • Oversee the monitoring of back-office statuses and functions
  • Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Interact daily with senior leadership of our casino partners to serve as a brand ambassador to both sportsbook and casino patrons alike
  • Act as an ambassador for the property to help promote sports wagering via our retail, kiosk, and mobile platforms
  • Promote a positive image for the company within the industry and community
  • Additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 2+ years of management experience in a retail environment, preferably in a sports book
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be confident in one's ability to assess situations and make informed decisions
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage relationships
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage a diverse range of activities and effectively prioritize responsibilities
  • Successfully pass all onboarding requirements necessary for this job (drug screen, background, etc.)

COMPETENCIES:
  • Prior work experience in a sportsbook is highly preferred
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and mentor staff members
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Committed to delivering an elevated level of customer service

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift, pull or push 25 lbs.
  • Must be able write for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend or reach with no significant boundaries.
