Team and Role:
The goal of the Microsoft Cloud Data Sciences team is to foster a data-driven culture; to encourage and enable the entire organization to make more informed decisions through data. In support of this mission, our team works closely with engineering, marketing, finance, and business leaders to identify opportunities for improving the customer experience and accelerating the growth of our business. Our charter spans the breadth of Cloud + AI, where we design and deliver standardized views of business performance, identify salient trends, define benchmarks and models for predicting upcoming performance, innovate with experimentations, and surface key insights. We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to leverage data to unlock new value for Microsoft customers by understanding user behavior and service usage, create compelling offers, and optimize the customer experience across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Cloud Products. The role primarily focused on building scalable and comprehensive experimentation analysis and statistical modeling solutions to discover causal inference effects.ResponsibilitiesKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• You will be the team's subject matter expert in the Cloud + AI business. Know the data, systems, teams, and data science solutions in your area.
• You will unleash the customer growth opportunities and improve end-to-end customer experience through experimentation, statistical analysis, causal inference, observational study, and predictive modeling from development to scalable production.
• You will design and implement statistical and ML based methods to identify changes in customer behavior, system performance, and recommend actions to stakeholders based on the insights. You will be versed in the breadth of supervised and unsupervised learning methods to help us make predictions and recommendations, set forecasts, identify anomalous activities, and more.
• You will be the epitome of a senior professional - someone who is comfortable working independently or within small teams, can communicate insights at a high altitude to an executive audience and dive into the technical details with product managers and other data scientists, and can help scope projects and then deliver on them to have business impact.

QualificationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience in experimentation, causal inference, statistical and machine learning modeling, or related fields.
• 5+ years of strong hands-on skills with general purpose programming language (SQL, Python, or R), and implement the solution from development to production.
• Strong analytical ability; problem deconstruction, statistical thinking, meticulous analysis, data validation, and scientific rigor.
• Experience leading data analyses from start to finish and landing actionable insights

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Functional knowledge of cloud computing and online services business models, including business, technical, and operational metrics.
• Previous product analytics experience where telemetry data was used to understand how customers interacted with a product or service, which features were most used, and what experiences led to customer friction or trouble. Can make distinctions between situations where datapoints are different, significantly different, and meaningfully different.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management ability including effective prioritization, clear and concise communication, and delivery of actionable data-driven insights
• Strong analytical ability; problem deconstruction, statistical thinking, meticulous forensic analysis, data validation, and scientific rigor.
• Machine learning model development for production scenarios.
• Advanced degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• MBA is a plus
