Sr Systems Engineer

Working closely with the Director of Architecture & Security, the Senior Systems Engineer role will be responsible for collaboratively building, maintaining, automating, and supporting all aspects of Azure-based cloud infrastructure and related security. 

This is a senior level position on our Platforms team. The ideal candidate is highly experienced with Azure virtual data center operation and design, is comfortable with all areas of Azure IaaS and PaaS including but not limited to Azure Active Directory, Identity & Access Management, Conditional Access, servers, storage accounts, DNS, SSL certificates & certificate management, telemetry, SQL, Application Gateways, App Service, and performance metrics & tuning.

This position will involve mentoring teammates - facilitating knowledge transfer and socializing best practices within our cloud & network architectures and our workflow processes. The ability to multi-task, while maintaining structure and organization, is essential in this position. The ideal candidate for this job is resourceful, and excellent problem solver, and superb communicator.

Responsibilities:    

• Collaboratively plan, implement, and maintain Azure cloud-based solutions with a focus on networking, virtual servers, web applications, databases, storage, and overall security.
• Experience with of one or more scripting languages such as: PowerShell, Bash, Azure CLI, ARM Templates, Terraform.
• Set up tooling & telemetry (logs, metrics, and events) on production systems to create continuous real-time feedback mechanisms, providing insights to the support and development teams (the next generation architecture) – including Metrics reporting and Dashboard creation
• Make recommendations to the DevOps & development teams on areas related to the reliability, maintainability, availability, security, and performance of the system as well as efficiency of the team
• Perform root cause analysis and work to implement preventative measures
• Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, SSL/TLS and distributed networks. Should be able to understand overall VLAN design, ACL rules, route tables, firewall rules, etc.
• Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace with competing priorities.

Required Qualifications:   

• Systems/Network engineering: 7+ years
• Microsoft Azure: 2+ years
• Experience in a technical lead role.
• Strong interpersonal skills - team player, personable, professional, and organized. Takes initiative, uses tact and diplomacy.
• Expertise in coordination and escalation to Microsoft Premier/Cisco support and ability to coordinate with first- and third-party software vendors as needed for resolution of business-impacting problems.
• Experience implementing and managing a SIEM solution.
• Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Experience with advanced project management principles such as SCRUM, AGILE, sprints, and expertise with Atlassian Jira.
• Bachelor's (Preferred) or equivalent experience.

Compensation: Aya reasonably anticipates the pay scale for this position to be an annual salary of $140,000 to $160,000.  

The pay scale for this position may vary if applicant possesses experience outside of what Aya reasonably anticipates for this position. Bonuses are subject to the role and your manager’s discretion.
