Job Summary
The Sr. Actuarial Technician will be responsible for supporting the design, contract drafting, and filing of products for both the Retirement and Protection Segments of the Company.
Organization
This position will report to a senior member of the Retirement Segment Filing team and will interact directly with all levels of Pricing & Design Actuaries within both the Retirement and Protection Segments.
- Support the development, design, analysis, and filing of products to comply with various state and federal regulations, by working with Filing team, Legal, and Compliance
- Partner with Filing team, Pricing actuaries, Legal, and Compliance in drafting contract language that accurately reflects product intent, conforms to statutory/regulatory requirements and meets project timelines.
- Support policy form drafting and filing process by conducting research of statutory/regulatory requirements and competitor products, policy, and rider forms
- Support Filing team and Compliance to draft required filing materials to support new product development or enhancements to existing products. Such work could include:
- Preparing a list of filing requirements that fall under the actuarial department responsibility.
- Supporting drafting of actuarial memoranda and other documents for review and approval by the filing actuary.
- Drafting and maintaining Statements of Variability that comply with regulations and product design.
- Coordinating with Filing team to respond to any actuarial objections from regulators by the deadline.
- Supporting documentation of actuarial filing information.
Experience and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required – Preferred in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related technical field. Relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
- 2-4 years in Financial Services industry with Indexed Annuity and Indexed Life product experience preferred.
- Strong contract and regulatory filing knowledge preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Possess strong technical writing skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Must be a self-starter, extremely detail oriented, and be able handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities.
- Proactive individual who can provide strategic thinking.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong internal partnerships with key groups and individuals.
- Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group in which members of the team work with great autonomy and take a high degree of ownership for their areas of responsibility.
- Business acumen to gain credibility within the organization.
