This position works out of our Sylmar, CA location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division

Our Mobile Software Engineering team currently has an opportunity for a Staff Software Verification Engineer (Mobile) at our location in Sylmar (CA).

Staff Software Verification Engineer leads in designing and developing software across Android and iOS mobile applications for CRM remote care under a disciplined product development process that meets Abbott's quality and appropriate regulatory agency requirements.

What You'll Work On

  • Create verification and validation test designs, test scripts and perform test execution for CRM's mobile software on Android and iOS platforms.
  • Perform test execution - manual and automated including, functional testing, regression testing, usability testing and performance testing.
  • Create test documentation on system, subsystem & component level (test plans, test cases, test scripts, summary reports).
  • Create software requirements specifications for one or more new features or user stories.
  • Manage software requirement documentation & traceability in a requirements management tool.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the system-level requirements and workflows to ensure the software requirements are consistent and complete.
  • Provide technical leadership in defining the strategy and selection of the Mobile software test management framework that meets the needs of the team.
  • Participate in developing and/or enhancing tools for automated testing of the Mobile software by simulating its interfaces.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the dependencies with phone platforms, new versions of OS and their Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), etc. and ensuring compatibilities and compliances across them.
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in discussions and reviews of test deliverables within the team.
  • Identify and assess test failures; perform root cause analysis and identify corrective and preventive actions to address current and future issues.
  • Work actively with cross-functional teams to develop testing strategies.
  • Participate as a key reviewer in reviews of technical deliverables from other teams, such as mobile software development, systems engineering, software quality, etc.
  • Ensure that all product development activities and deliverables conform to and comply with Abbott and CRM requirements and guidelines, as well as regulatory requirements such as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Union Medical Device Regulations (EU-MDR).
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in Mobile software technologies including the Mobile Operating System (OS) updates, app store requirements, and cybersecurity and data privacy requirements.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Agile principles to follow an iterative process for test development, execution, and deployments.
  • Support all corporate and department-level initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and other regulatory requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a range of software engineering disciplines using a variety of programming methods:
  • 3 or more years of experience developing mobile applications on Android and/or iOS.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or a related engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Skills:

  • Mobile OS platforms - Android & iOS:
    • Xcode
    • Android Studio

Programming:

  • Familiarity with .NET framework
