Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant- Close

Job Summary

This position is a senior level position performing various duties related to the monthly close process for Fidelity & Guaranty Life and subsidiaries.   Areas of responsibility include monthly close responsibilities such as preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, earnings analysis, including internal management reporting.  Responsibilities also include implementation of accounting for new transactions in the organization. This position will also support the department with respect to internal and external audit requests.

Organization
The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant- Close will report to the Manager, Financial Reporting.  He/she will work with other members of the Financial Reporting team and collaborate with other departments throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare analysis and utilize reporting tools to obtain information from the general ledger (Oracle) and/or financial data warehouse as required to assist with the reconciliation and analytic duties related to position.
• Assisting with coordination of the close process, including processing allocations, to create monthly financial statements
• Preparation or review of journal entries and account reconciliations including supporting analysis when applicable
• Assist with accounting for new transactions and coordinating those into the Company’s monthly close expectations

• Identifying opportunities for process improvement and/or internal control enhancements
• Support compliance with internal control procedures and documentation of controls
• Support internal and external audits, as needed.
• Pursue path of continuous process improvement (including automation opportunities) opportunities to identify and provide recommendations.

Experience and Education Requirements

• • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 2-5 years accounting experience in sophisticated accounting environment.
  • Insurance experience a plus.
