The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plano, Texas location in the Neuromodulation Division. Our Neuromodulation business includes implantable devices compatible with mobile technology to help people who suffer from chronic pain and movement disorders. These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum.

This position provides guidance for the design and development of company products. Works closely with product development team to establish product development goals while ensuring market compatibility.

What You'll Work On

• Drive key technological decisions that guide innovation within Abbott Neuromodulation's strategic focus areas based on a clear understanding of clinical or business unmet need
• Partner with technical experts to build novel solutions that augment or change standard of care
• For future NPD projects, drive early technical feasibility, and risk mitigation
• Drive cross-functional teams (marketing, clinical, R&D, etc.) on developing product development project strategy and execution plans
• In partnership with Marketing, drive a deep understanding of the unmet stakeholder need, competitive landscapes, & industry trends
• In partnership with Finance, drive early business case development
• Synthesize findings and recommendation in a coherent and thoughtful manner and present them to senior leadership and cross-functional teams
• Generate implications to move the needle and influence the business towards a recommendation
• Position may require up to 15% travel.
• Position will be based out of our Plano or Austin office
• Drive to quickly problem solve, simplify and bring clarity to complex technical, clinical and market questions and issues
• Comfort with ambiguity and lack of availability of complete information to make strategic decisions
• Ability to pivot and manage competing priorities to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to focus the team on de-risking the most important, existential risks
• Strong interpersonal skills to move seamlessly between conversing with clinicians and engineers to leading presentations with senior executives
• Well-developed synthesis and storytelling skills to efficiently communicate findings and recommendations via PowerPoint

Pay

The salary range for this position is $145,000 - $165,000 based on relevant education and experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8years experience OR Master's degree with 8 years of experience OR PhD and 5 years experience required
• Experience in medical device development required

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA or Ph.D in mechanical engineering or MD with engineering background
• 2+ years of experience in a large cap medical device company
