Description:

As a Sr. Systems Engineer, you'll be a go-to person for designing, building and supporting the platforms that deliver content and services for the Health Services division of WebMD. This position is part of WebMD Health Services Operations team supporting a highly transactional, geographically distributed, Internet facing infrastructure. You will be working closely with development, QA and Client Delivery groups that build and test applications used by consumers which contain highly sensitive HIPAA data.

What you'll do at WebMD:

• Work alongside engineering teams in the architecture and development of our next generation of infrastructure and applications.
• Support Lean, Agile, and Continuous Delivery practices in a DEVOPS environment.
• Monitor and support production systems.
• Automate system and infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
• Address production issues outside of working hours in an on-call capacity.
• Participate in a shared 24x7x365 on-call rotation.
• Enjoy being part of a highly functional team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of demonstrated expert-level Windows/Linux System Administration experience supporting critical production infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of Windows/Linux OS commands/utilities (process, network, file systems, job control, etc).
• Expert level proficiency in troubleshooting Operating Systems, Infrastructure, and Applications.
• Strong understanding of networking (L2-L3), TCP/IP, Internet Services (DNS, Load Balancing), and Firewalls.
• Core understanding of key security concepts and auditing requirements
• Proficient in Virtualization and Cloud Technologies (VMWare, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Proficient in High Availability and BCP concepts (Backup & Recovery, Server Clustering, Server Farms, Recovery Time/Point Objectives, etc.).
• Ability to write complex shell scripts (VB Script, PowerShell, bash, etc.).
• Ability to learn and adapt new technologies in a fast paced environment.
• Ability to create and maintain technical and process documentation to ensure efficient and consistent deployment and support of systems.
• Ability to lift weight up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Skills:

• Microsoft MCSE, VMWare VCP, CCNA, or comparable relevant technical certifications
• Previous experience in a Service Provider or Software Development organization
• Experience in a DevOps Environment supporting automation and infrastructure as code.
• Previous experience within a highly regulated, compliant environment.
• Deep proficiency in supporting Active Directory/LDAP, IIS, ASP.NET.
• Proficiency in monitoring and alerting systems (Nagios, Solar Winds, Zenoss, etc.)
• SAN/Storage Management experience a plus.
