Staff Accountant

As a Staff Accountant you will report to the Senior Accountant on our Finance team and work on a team whose mission is to structure, report, analyze and communicate Underdog’s activity, growth and financials. You will play an important role in supporting our Senior Accountant, performing month end and year end tasks including those surrounding the financial audit, driving process improvements around areas of the business that touch accounting, working cross-functionally with operating teams, and taking on ad-hoc projects that support the finance and accounting team.

• Perform tasks related to month end close, including reconciliations, journal entries and intercompany entries
• Assist with financial statement audit, including preparation of supporting workpapers and preparation of financial statements
• Assist with accounts payable related workflows and processes that involve both paying vendors and ensure our customer funds are appropriately sent and received
• Ad-hoc projects that support the organization as the organization continues to scale and is in rapid growth mode
• Assessing and strengthening internal controls and all procedures relating to financial activities
• Support department initiatives that help the long term growth of the accounting and finance team

• 2-3 years experience, ideally with at least some experience in public accounting
• CPA or soon to be CPA required
• General knowledge of GAAP
• General knowledge of intercompany transactions
• Strong grasp of business and financial statements
• Excellent organizational skills
• Desire to be in a high growth environment and willingness to wear a lot of hats both within and outside of the finance function
• Team player willing to take on any task that is needed
• Strategic thinker and business minded

• Previous experience in a startup or high growth environment with constant changes
• Mix of public and private experience
