Staff Accountant (Fixed Term Contract)

About the Role:

We are actively seeking a Staff Accountant in the Finance team for a six month contract [September 2024 - February 2025]. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with people with a diverse set of talents, can drive projects from concept to completion, and communicates well across teams in a dynamic and fast paced environment. They will have a strong working knowledge of US GAAP with experience in a wide range of GL functions. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to have a large impact on this fast-growing business.

Matterport is a remote workplace with headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. This position can be based remotely in the United States, but must be available to work Pacific Time Zone hours.

What you will do:

• Manage company Sales Tax and VAT reporting and reconciliation working with our tax partners in the EMEA and North America. This involves processing large amounts of data in Excel.
• Active role in monthly close process including maintenance of the general ledger by creating & reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
• Responsible for reconciliation of all GL accounts related to Sales Tax, VAT, Intercompany & Equity.
• Work closely with outsourced accountants in EMEA & APAC to maintain the books for the subsidiaries.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and prepare responses to various requests for information
• Document business process & drive continual process improvement leveraging best practices.
• Must be available to work Pacific Time Zone hours 

Who you are:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting or related discipline
• 4+ Years Accounting Experience - General Ledger, Journal Entries, Accruals, GL Account reconciliations, sales and use tax, assist with month-end entries & closing.
• 2+ Experience with Indirect Tax in the US & Europe
• Strong Excel skill and experience working with large sets of data
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
• Ability to learn fast.
• Solid understanding of US generally accepted accounting principles 
• Experience working in NetSuite ERP system
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Exhibit a positive attitude and enjoy working in a collaborative fast paced environment

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $93,000 to $116,200 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
