The Impact You’ll Make

• Enable a world-class software system. You'll work with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Scientists, Computational Biologists, and Automation Scientists, colalborating with them to build tools to accelerate drug discovery across Recursion
• Set and raise technical standards for both work and mentorship of senior contributors.
• Help evolve our technical systems. At Recursion, we are building the platforms that enable drug discovery at scale. We know we need to build platforms that we can use to build our tools and enable faster autonomous delivery. Your technical experience in developing platforms will inform our approaches and make sure we build the most valuable platforms. 
• Act as a mentor, coach, and sponsor. You will share your technical knowledge and experiences, delivering impact, learning, and growth within and beyond the team.

The Team you will join

Our growing enabling team is a team of engineers and data scientists that partner with teams across Recursion to solve hard problems with unique skillsets that the teams don’t otherwise have. You will work on short to medium term engagements, helping teams deliver on complex challenges, enabling the industrialization of validation and drug discovery. This new team will accelerate our mission of decoding biology and radically improving lives, because we know that patients can’t wait.  

Your broad engineering skillset will enable you to deliver, but your critical experience in teaching the technologies you know will enable the teams you partner with to own the work you build collaboratively. There is no throwing things over the wall here - living our We Learn value, the job isn’t done until the team can operate without your help. 

The Experience You’ll Need

• Though we don’t have specific targets around the number of years worked, we are looking for people with wide experience to be a leader growing the team.
• Experience sharing insights both in the team and across the company.
• “Be glue” and help connect people across the organization to meet the needs of your team. 
• Experience programming in projects with unknowns and technical complexity, spanning multiple systems and involving diverse technologies, as well as working cross-functionally with non-engineers
• Experience collaborating with engineers and data scientists on and off team to complete large projects. 
• A people-first mindset. Despite the deadlines, we always prioritize supporting our coworkers in their growth and experience.
• Experience delivering well tested and instrumented code that can be continuously deployed in small impactful chunks.
• Excitement to learn parts of our tech stack that you might not already know. We hope you’re excited about technologies such as Python, Clojure, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, ClojureScript, and Go. Our cloud services are provided by Google Cloud Platform.

Biology or chemistry background is not necessary, but intellectual curiosity is a must!
