About the Role

As a Staff Frontend Software Engineer you will play a lead role in defining the architecture and patterns we use across our frontend applications and be a primary contributor to our claims management system.  You will have direct influence over how our internal applications interact and share code efficiently and across our underwriting workbench policy administration system claims management system and other applications establishing patterns for component reuse state management and cross-application communication.

In this role you will architect robust frontend solutions that integrate seamlessly with our backend systems ensuring a cohesive user experience across our insurance platforms and all internal tools. Your technical leadership will directly impact the scalability maintainability and performance of all our applications.

You will collaborate closely with an experienced cross-functional team including product management backend engineering design and data engineering to deliver well-architected frontend solutions that enhance our insurance operations.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and implement frontend solutions for our claims management system
  • Establish and champion stable development patterns and frameworks for code sharing and reuse enabling frontend teams to collaborate without creating tight dependencies
  • Build and iterate on frontend experiences for AI-powered applications exploring emerging patterns in agentic UIs
  • Champion thoughtful patterns and practices across the product and technology team to get the most out of AI-assisted development
  • Build intuitive responsive user interfaces that streamline complex insurance workflows
  • Partner with Design to establish clear feedback loops co-define component requirements and ship experiences that meet Product and Design standards
  • Lead technical decisions regarding frontend architecture state management and component design
  • Develop maintainable and scalable JavaScript/TypeScript code with a focus on performance and user experience
  • Apply patterns and tooling that allow for better insights into how our applications perform in production
  • Collaborate with backend teams to integrate frontend applications with APIs and data services
  • Implement testing strategies and quality assurance processes for frontend applications
  • Mentor other software engineers providing technical guidance and code reviews
  • Evaluate and recommend frontend technologies and frameworks that align with business goals
  • Partner with product and design teams to translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions
  • Contribute and champion our design system and component library

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years of frontend engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • Experience serving in an architect role for complex web applications
  • Deep understanding of frontend architecture patterns and best practices
  • Experience designing systems that enable code sharing across multiple applications
  • Strong command of modern frontend build tools testing frameworks and deployment practices
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environment with Agile values
  • Willing to come into the office to work with the team directly on a regular basis

It's a bonus if you also have:

  • Experience working within the supply chain and logistics industry
  • Experience working within the insurance industry
  • Experience building customer or partner-facing API solutions
  • Experience building and deploying vue.js applications

Compensation

Market competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range of $170000-$190000. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s location experience qualifications and skills.

Skills Required

  • 8+ years of data engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in Python SQL Terraform and Go
  • Experience serving in an architect role for complex data systems
  • Deep understanding of data architecture patterns and best practices
  • Experience designing systems that enable data sharing and integration across multiple applications
  • Experience working with data governance programs including Master Data Management and Data Quality validation
  • Strong command of modern data tools ETL/ELT frameworks and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with data warehousing solutions and analytics databases ideally duckdb Motherduck ducklake
  • Previous experience with mentorship or people management
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
