Security Engineering is tasked with ensuring the dbt Labs engineers design, write, and deploy our products in a secure and responsible manner. A combination of Application Security, Infrastructure Security, Security Architecture, and Security Incident Response, this team’s scope is wide and their expected depth of knowledge is extreme. People can spend a lifetime in the security industry and only scratch the surface of one of these areas of expertise.
In this role, you can expect to:- Use your background in application, network, and cloud security to act as a highly technical, hands-on subject matter expert in reducing security risk for dbt Labs products.
- Build relationships with engineers and product managers and advise them on questions concerning security architecture, system configuration, and how to secure the software development lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership for the security team to better detect, respond, investigate, and remediate application and infrastructure security vulnerabilities.
- Lead the build out of systems to secure and monitor our products across multiple cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, and GCP).
- Support a culture of growth and learning through the mentorship of engineers inside your team and across Engineering.
- Have 8+ years experience as a software or security engineer OR
- Minimum requirement of Bachelors degree in related field (computer science, computer engineering, etc.)Â OR
- Completed enrollment in engineering related bootcamp
- Have 8+ years combined experience as a software or security engineer, and at least 4 years experience as a security engineer in application, infrastructure, and/or operational security.
- Have expertise in AWS security controls, cloud security compliance standards, and vulnerability management.
- Have in-depth technical knowledge of network security, authentication, and security protocols.
- Care about business impact and prioritize projects accordingly–you model threat risks and balance the right security investments with the right business outcomes.
- Are adept at communicating complex security concepts to audiences of varying technical acuity.
- Value working with junior team members.
- Are value-oriented, and you share our company values.
- Have experience at fast growth startups or product-led growth companies
- Have a background working in security engineering organizations, protecting AWS and Kubernetes environments.
- Have experience building a security roadmap and leading teams in the execution of cross-organizational security initiatives.
- Have experience in a remote-first environment
- Have implemented or managed operational tools including a WAF, SIEM, and IDS/IPS.
- Have designed, built, integrated, and/or maintained IAM in an enterprise-level environment.
- Have experience working on a PaaS or CI/CD product.
- Salary: $215,000 - $290,000
