Staff Security Engineer​ - TVM (Threat and Vulnerability Management) 

Job Summary: 

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Threat and Vulnerability Management (TVM) Staff Engineer to join our Detection and Response team here at GHX. We believe in small, extremely agile teams, using technology wisely, processing efficiently, and thinking of creative ways to solve problems. The Staff Security Engineer will report to the Manager, Security Operations, and this will be a green field opportunity where you will build out and help define our Threat and Vulnerability Management program. We would love to find someone who has played a senior role within a successful TVM program, who can help us develop our own mature TVM processes.  

Duties and responsibilities 

  • Develop and implement TVM security strategies, assessing risks, and managing security projects aligned to GHX strategy which includes developing detailed documentation on TVM implementation, configuration, and processes 
  • Collaborate regularly with the Manager of Security Operations Team to review threat activity, adversary tactics, targeted vulnerabilities, and exposure risks, providing expertise in best practices to mitigate risks 
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate enterprise-wide new (and existing) security tools, techniques and security devices and or services for TVM as needed to enhance the security posture 
  • Lead the integration of tools to automate critical response tasks and provide expertise in evaluating TVM tool, patches and updates and perform necessary maintenance  
  • Monitor daily for zero-day threats, patches, mitigations, and strategies. 
  • Utilize threat intelligence to manage potential threats and reduce the likelihood of exploitation 
  • Interact with system owners and IT teams to drive remediation or mitigation of identified vulnerabilities 
  • Ensure necessary administration and support tasks are completed and direct others as necessary 
  • Assist with security awareness activities (communications, posters, events, assessments) as needed 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree, Computer Science or related field  
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Threat and Vulnerability Management 
  • 8-10 years' experience in an information technology field  
  • Experience in Tenable 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Committed to maintaining technical expertise, applying applicable industry standards and best practices 
  • Administering and maturing tool configurations to optimize performance, and feature utilization within Tenable 
  • Knowledge or experience in Forensic investigations  
  • Proficient in response team (CIRT) activities 
  • Troubleshooting and resolving TVM related support tickets 
  • Ability to perform effective and comprehensive security assessments  

Estimated salary range: $110,000 - $146,000  

The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX’s salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of GHX’s total compensation package for employees.
