About the team:
The Custody Services Team at Robinhood exemplifies our Safety First value by building and operating services that protect our most critical data via encryption, signing and other cryptographic techniques. We operate Tier-0 services in production, as well as isolated high trust environments.
About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer on our Custody Services Team, you will be leading, building and owning our next generation custody platform. You will be working on our secure wallet and blockchain processing systems. This is a very low-level engineering role that operates within a high-security hardware Trusted Execution Environment. You will also gain an outstanding look into how the US financial system works on the inside and strengthen your financial and cryptocurrency domain knowledge. We strive for a high standard of engineering quality while service unique scalability challenges. You will have high impact roles in our fast growing company.
What you'll do day-to-day:

• You will design and build the next generation security services within our custody platform.
• You will own and work in a 24/7 on-call rotation for our custody services.
• You will partner with teams across Security & Privacy and Robinhood to address business and technical requirements by delivering secure solutions and features in accordance with our priorities and roadmap.
• You will write high quality and well tested, secure code to ship to our customers.
• You will create and implement strategies to continually improve the security posture of Robinhood's cryptographic systems and the critical data they protect.

About you:

• You have 3+ years' experience direct C coding, particularly in hardware or firmware environments.
• You have a strong familiarity with uses of cryptography and ECDSA
• You have a strong familiarity with low-level blockchain transaction parsing and processing of at least one blockchain, preferably many chains; able to find cryptocurrency transaction specifications and implement all logic and serialization to produce valid signed transactions
• You have a strong familiarity with secure coding practices, defense in depth, static and dynamic analysis, and programming practices to create highly resilient, highly secure code running in the TEE

Bonus points:

• You have experience writing code in Golang (highly preferable) and Python (less preferable)
• You have experience with PKCS #11, HSM hardware, hardware TEE environments, Nitro enclaves, SGX
• Experience working in financial or other regulated environments
• Strong understanding of cryptographic primitives, symmetric ciphers, encryption, secure hash functions or cryptoanalysis.

• Proprietary and commercial solutions for blockchain and wallet operations

CO Residents: In Colorado, the base pay for this position ranges from $169000 to $224000. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and participation in Robinhood's equity plan.
