The Opportunity

Our location in Sunnyvale (CA) or Sylmar (CA) currently has an opportunity for a Staff Software Engineer.

Staff Software Engineer is responsible for developing and unit testing wireless communication firmware for Implantable Device Firmware projects towards meeting both short-term and long-term goals of customers; managing the delivery of communication software projects that meet customers' needs in terms of functionalities, performance, time, and cost; reporting progress of the project to upper management and customers.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Working from functional requirement specifications, develops, maintains, and updates software on platforms like Bluetooth SoC SDK, Embedded Linux and/or Mobile platforms Android Bluetooth Adaptor, and iOS Core Bluetooth.
  • Supports implementation, new creation, enhancements, and modifications to software/Firmware applications.
  • Debugs, troubleshoots, and isolates software problems and offer strategic advice regarding identified issues for future development;
  • Develops design concepts (i.e. parameters, structure, and core components).
  • Presents at design reviews; documents and resolves issues as directed.
  • Contributes to and supports reviews other engineers hold on related projects and provide useful feedback.
  • Contributes to and supports a variety of development and test phase efforts.
  • May write and update requirement specifications for an assigned area.
  • Reviews project deliverables such as specifications, code, and test/tool procedures for feasibility, thoroughness, clarity, correctness, and accuracy.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Software engineering, computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software development (combination of programming-heavy coursework, school projects, freelance work, and professional experience)
  • Hands-on experience with Bluetooth SoC software development experience such as Nordic nRF52, Texas Instrument CC2640, ON Semiconductor RSL 10/15.
  • Sufficient software, hardware knowledge, and experience for device driver development on customized hardware. Able to come up with technical solutions for meeting customers' needs.
  • Able to plan for project deliverables and manage the project team towards meeting schedule and cost, as well as delivering the product with high quality.
  • Able to communicate technical solutions and issues clearly and adequately to management as well as project members.
  • Able to lead and manage a team from multiple sites to work cohesively.
  • Able to identify initiatives for process improvement.
  • Able to capture and analyze customer's needs, and understand design and solution towards solutions.
  • Experience in low-level real-time system development, such as interrupts, and device drivers.
  • Experience in programming languages such as C, C++, or C#
  • Experience in operating systems such as Bluetooth SoC SDK, Linux.
  • Experience in multi-tasking systems and real-time application development (ex., threading, semaphores, processes, etc.).


Preferred
  • Experience and knowledge of software development process as required for the medical device industry
  • Experience working with Swift, MFC, Python, Android and/or iOS
  • Experience with Objected Oriented Analysis and Design concepts.
  • Experience with tools such as AccuRev, Jira, and ClearQuest.
  • Knowledge of hardware breadboards and PC hardware system interfaces and embedded systems
  • Familiar with Bluetooth Specifications.
