Staff Software Engineer (Cloud Network)

We are looking for a Staff Cloud Network Engineer who's passionate about automation & resiliency and has experience with scale to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. We enable Affirm to build and scale our infrastructure globally in an engineering efficient, developer friendly, cost-effective, resilient, performant and secure manner and ensure that Affirm can uphold our SLA commitments. Our work ranges from spinning up new microservices, scaling for the holiday season, working closely with the security team on managing infra level security, automating everything, developing frameworks for our internal customers and having fun along the way!
Your work is the foundation on which all of Affirm's code runs on.
What You'll Do:

• Evolve our network architecture
• Act as a subject matter expert in all things networking including but not limited to security, monitoring, intra-AZ flows, cross region calls, VPN access, cross cloud provider communications, cost analysis, etc.
• Automate the configuration of the network
• Tighten access levels across infrastructure
• Partner with multiple teams to ensure all business cases are accounted for
• Help troubleshoot and diagnose network issues
• Provide guidance on cross account / cross region network flows
• Collaborate with AWS to keep a top of the latest networking strategies

What We Look For:

• AWS certification is a plus
• Kubernetes experience is a bonus
• Experience with IaC platforms such as CloudFormation or Terraform
• Hands on experience with other cloud providers such as Azure or GCP
• Monitoring of flows egressing over the public Internet and ingressing into cloud providers
• Software development experience in Python or Bash scripting is a plus
• Proven expertise in large scale cloud environments
