This role offers the opportunity to take technical leadership of a critical product domain focused on planning and organizational intelligence. You will design and scale backend-heavy systems that support complex planning workflows used by large organizations, helping transform how teams model scenarios, manage workforce data, and make strategic decisions. Working within a small and agile engineering group, you will collaborate closely with senior technical leadership and product stakeholders to shape architectural direction and deliver impactful features. The role blends hands-on development with technical strategy, offering ownership of performance, reliability, and scalability across a growing platform. It is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex system challenges, improving legacy codebases incrementally, and building tools with real business impact.
Accountabilities:
Design, build, and maintain backend-focused features within a mature and evolving codebase.Take ownership of the technical health of a core product domain, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.Collaborate with senior leadership to align architectural vision with product goals and translate concepts into practical solutions.Break down product initiatives into structured technical plans and guide execution within the engineering team.Improve data models and system behavior to support scaling customers and increasingly complex planning scenarios.Balance feature development with targeted refactoring and operational improvements to reduce technical debt.Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to improving observability, monitoring, and incident response processes.Work closely with product and engineering peers to ensure the broader platform remains cohesive and maintainable.Requirements:
7+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems in production environments.Strong experience maintaining and improving large or monolithic codebases through incremental change.Proven ability to make sound technical tradeoffs balancing delivery speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.Experience collaborating closely with product managers and business stakeholders to deliver impactful features.Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and decisions clearly.Comfort contributing across the stack when necessary, including frontend work.Experience with technologies such as Kotlin, TypeScript, React, MongoDB, or AWS is a strong advantage.Curiosity, pragmatism, and the ability to quickly learn new domains and technologies.Interest in working within a highly collaborative, fast-moving remote engineering environment.Benefits:
