Our mission is to help businesses unlock customer insights and make better decisions faster and cheaper by creating a suite of industry-leading storage and compute services inside the Segment customer data platform.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building a suite of storage and compute building blocks that form the foundation of a strong Customer Data Platform. You’ll also be responsible for mentoring, sharing knowledge, and guiding the technical decisions of the team to set us up for long-term success, both as a product and as a team.

A glimpse of what we do within Segment Storage group:

  • Improving Warehouse product by optimizing data loading process into AWS Redshift
  • Using AWS Gateway API to build storage microservices - Datalake, Warehouses, 3rd Party Cloud sources, new product development
Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Build the next generation of Storage building blocks that enable internal teams and customers to unlock value from their data
  • Work on full-stack development of platform tools and web services.
  • Collaborate with teams across the R&D org to ensure their services are multi-region capable
  • Help more junior developers by mentoring them, providing guidance, and positively influencing their careers.
  • Write unit tests and functional tests in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Own reliability for the team’s services and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Should be able to adapt to prioritizing multiple issues in a high-pressure environment.
  • Should be able to understand complex architectures and be comfortable working with different teams.
  • Ability to conduct application performance analysis.

Some of the projects you would contribute to include:

  • Enabling efficient storage and management of customer data to power products like Segment Warehouses and Cloud Sources application
  • Orchestrating customer data deletion and suppression to ensure Segment and our customers are compliant with regulations like GDPR and CCPA
  • Building systems that route customer data to Storage Destinations like Data Warehouses and Data Lakes
  • Enabling enrichment of customer data with data from various Object Cloud Sources like Twilio, Salesforce, Zendesk, and many more
Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • Passion for building complex UI design and implementation.
  • 2+ years of experience developing highly-available web applications or distributed systems that delight customers and the developers working on them
  • Experience in designing, developing, and operating services in cloud-deployed environments
