Staff Software Engineer - Platform

IEX Cloud is hiring a Staff Software Engineer on the platform team to support our growing organization. We are looking for a competent engineer with significant experience in distributed, elastic systems leveraging modern data and messaging technologies.  In this role, you will have an opportunity to design and implement brand-new components; at the same time, you will be expected to help out refactoring old modules.

What You'll Do:

Technical Contributions:

• Design, implement, test, and deploy software

Collaboration within a Product team:

• Collaborate cross functionally with product management, marketing and customer success to understand the user needs and requirements to succeed in our market 

Delivery Management:

• Understand product requirements, design technical solutions, and help the team ship a great product. 
• Deliver against business and product goals in each planning period 
• Document scope in well-written epics and tasks in Jira 
• Participate in code reviews and documenting the system 
• Be proactive in improving team communication and efficiency 

You Are:

• Knowledge of computer science concepts:
  • Common data structures, Algorithms (Big-O etc.), Object-oriented programming
• Proficiency in one of the following programming languages:
  • JavaScript, Java, C, or C++
• Proficiency in Linux OS and programming environment, including all of the following:
  • Filesystem, Processes, IPC, Shell
• Working knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Strong communication skills
• Experience building reusable code and libraries
• Experience and confidence working with complex data structures
• Culture fit (Think Big, Do Good/ Win Together/ Be Gritty/ Invent & Reinvent)

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Node.js is a strong plus
