Telecommuting is an option for this position.
Duties include the following:
- Lead architecture, development, and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and high-performance cloud-native software;
- Define technical vision and expertise across multiple teams;
- Build solutions in line with Paige’s software architecture based on microservices pattern;
- Collaborate with peers and stakeholders to define technical solutions within the digital pathology field;
- Work on complex gigapixel image processing data pipelines;
- Lead incident investigation and resolutions;
- Maintain and enhance current products and services to best serve Paige customers and implement and test new features ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements (e.g. security, auditability, regulatory) are met;
- Contribute to improving Paige’s software architecture and build solutions in line with architecture;
- Apply and improve software development best practices such as automated testing, DevOps, and observability;
- Mentor and train less experienced team members and provide proactive feedback to people with whom the engineer interacts;
- Participate in definition of company objectives and achieve goals in creative and effective ways; and
- Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for solving complex problems; and
- Spearhead creation and maintenance of quality architectural level technical documentation.
Requirements:
Employer requires a candidate to have at least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus eight (8) years of progressively more responsible work experience as a Software Engineer in commercial settings.
Candidate must also have the following:
- Demonstrated competency in working with Python, Javascript, Ruby, Java, or C# gained through four (4) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability working with at least a web framework: Django, Flash, sanic, Node.js, RoR, Springboot, or .NET core gained through three (3) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability with building container-based infrastructure and microservices, including using Docker, Kubernetes, and EKS gained through two (2) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability working with REST APIs gained through two (2) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability working with NoSQL datastores such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or CosmosDB gained through two (2) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability with performance tuning, deploying, and helping to resolve critical customer escalations (including debugging software problems) gained through at least three (3) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability working with modern product development practices, including software testing and CI/CD (continuous integration / continuous deployment) gained through two (2) years of work experience;
- Demonstrated ability documenting design decisions and implementation details gained through three (3) years of work experience; and
- Demonstrated ability with mentoring and coaching junior engineers gained through two (2) years of work experience
All years of experience may be gained concurrently.Â
Salary: $200,000 to $220,000 USD per year.
