The Life Sciences BU R&D team in Eindhoven is responsible for the development of (TEM) Transmission Electron Microscopes including (application) software and full customer solutions (workflows). Main application areas are around single particle acquisition (SPA) and electron Tomography.
The Position
As senior software scientist you will work within our SAFe (scaled agile) SPA release train and be part of one of our agile scrum teams.
You will be the pro-active central link between prototype programming, software development and the physics & electron optics domains for the life science field. The focus will be on the smart-EPU solution as part of the full SPA workflow.
Within the agile team, you will support the software development with physical, domain and workflow knowledge having full understanding of the Cryo-EM single particle analysis pipeline.
Prototyping solutions to reduce risk or validate ideas before productization starts is part of your daily work, as well as productization of features together with the team.
Encouraged qualifications includes ability to collaborate with scrum teams and engineers from other fields like optics or column automation and approach issues with solid problem solving skills.

- Ph.D., PDEng, or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Physics or a related field
- Proven experience in software development, preferably in scientific or technical applications
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C#
- Thorough understanding of the full cryo-EM single particle analysis pipeline
- Experience with image processing and analysis, particularly within the context of microscopy or related fields
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Team spirit and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical view combined with pragmatic mentality.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with machine learning and data analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of electron microscopy software and hardware integration
