Our Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, design, and engineering services for all phases of airports and aviation, bridge, rail, roadway, and transit projects. Your Key Responsibilities
As a Transportation Engineering Intern, you will be involved in plans production and design of highways and local municipal roads. You will be responsible for assisting project managers, project engineers and senior designers in the following areas:
- Performs basic engineering tasks on assigned projects, including bridges and transportation structures
- Assists team in preparing construction contract documents, project proposals, plans and reports
- Conducts interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
- Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer
- Performs basic calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
- Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity
- Monitors own work to ensure keeping on set schedule
- Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and working drawings.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
This position is intended for engineering students of an accredited Civil Engineering program with an emphasis on Transportation Engineering. Preferred candidates will also have the following additional skills:
- Courses related to traffic engineering, roadway geometrics and/or hydraulics. Familiarity with highway and roadway design related software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, or Geopak
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
