Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.

The sustainability & environmental social governance (ESG) team leads development and execution of sustainability and ESG initiatives at Toast. We guide our company’s overall sustainability strategy and management and ESG disclosures, including our climate strategy and greenhouse gas inventory and waste reduction initiatives. Toast’s efforts are championed and executed by our executive ESG Leadership team and cross-functional ESG Committee. We work closely with Toast.org, our social impact arm, and the team developing new products for our customers and their guests to contribute to sustainability and social impact.

Help us build our growing sustainability programs! We’ve built a strong foundation for sustainability and ESG at Toast, with much more underway. See what we’ve started with in our annual ESG Report. You’ll get an unprecedented opportunity to:

• Contribute to building our sustainability work 
• Assess and recommend areas of opportunity based on industry ratings standards
• Be involved in producing our next ESG Report
• Support our greenhouse gas inventory, climate goal setting process and climate initiatives
• Prepare for future ESG assessments by preparing responses for ESG ratings surveys
• Learn about industry ESG and sustainability best practices through conducting benchmarking analyses
• Researching efforts to advance collaboration in priority areas of interest 

 Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements) 

• Knowledge of and some experience in the basic concepts of sustainability/climate
• Passion for the role business can play in fostering a more sustainable and equitable restaurant industry and world 
• Excellent project management skills - You keep projects on track, on time, and moving with ease and efficiently. You love to support people to work together towards a goal. You keep people informed of progress and challenges, maintain timelines to milestones and deliverables, and look ahead to anticipate what’s needed and adapt accordingly
• Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) - You write concisely and share in a way that peers can understand what needs to be done.
• Keen attention to detail - You take pride in making sure your work has been proofread and is ready to share.
• Team player who takes initiative and guidance, listens, asks questions, shares your unique point of view, and works collaboratively
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and virtual environment, working independently and remotely
• Flexibility to re-prioritize or pivot and try a different approach as needed
• Self-starter and ambitious learner who is comfortable with ambiguity
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree
• Preferred: Experience and comfort working in Google docs, sheets, etc.
