Systems Engineer (Princeton, NJ) - Abbott Point of Care (APOC)

Our Princeton, NJ location has an opportunity for a Systems Engineer. The Systems Engineer will work on Abbott Point of Care's Alinity line of products as well as other New Product Introduction initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Participate in requirements writing, requirements management, requirements analysis, risk analysis, hazard analysis, product test and evaluation, System V & V, and/or design control documentation.
- Support on-market products, work with design engineers and suppliers to optimize product design.
- Provide support and consultancy to suppliers on process validations and process development.
- Manage Design Change Package activities to implement a variety of updates including process improvements, product enhancements, and supply continuity updates.
- Contribute to the technical aspects of Problem Solving, Failure Analysis, and Corrective and Preventative Actions.
- Design and conduct system level characterization/verification of complex systems.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and document test results.
- Participate in integration of analytical and performance related elements with software, hardware, and electronics system components.
- Communicate effectively and participate on cross functional development teams.
- Failure to properly integrate all systems could result in product introduction delays and quality issues.
- Gain a detailed understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of Abbott, FDA and ISO regulations, managing projects within these requirements.
- Gain a detailed understanding of overall scheduling, managing time and tasks within a defined schedule.
- Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
- Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Field (Biomedical, Electrical, Mechanical preferred).
- Experience in fast paced operations engineering environment, medical device experience preferred.
- Must be capable of coordinating cross functionally with groups such as R&D, Supply Chain, GP (Global Procurement), Design and Supplier Quality to drive design change packages and nonconformances.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast paced changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in a timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as an attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed business environment.
- Solid knowledge of general engineering/science principals and laboratory skills.
- Strong knowledge of defined development process that is consistent with ISO, FDA design control standards or requirements.
- Knowledge of contemporary design control and risk management practices.
- Understanding of the electro-mechanical, software, mathematical, chemical or biochemical process operative in diagnostic systems.
