Job Description

About the Company

Valon’s mission is to empower every homeowner. We believe the journey of home ownership starts when you get your keys, but lasts far beyond. We’re creating a world where home ownership comes with ease, security, and financial know-how. Our growing team of engineers, operators, product enthusiasts, and experienced servicing professionals are leveraging technology to fundamentally improve the homeownership experience. Through mortgage servicing—the process of paying off one’s mortgage—Valon is taking the first step in transforming the industry one homeowner, and lender, at a time.

Engineering at Valon

We are building a world-class engineering team to disrupt one of the most archaic spaces in the financial sector — the mortgage and homeownership industry. You’ll join a small, tight-knit group of engineers from companies like Google, Facebook, Spotify, and Twilio who are turning incredibly complex challenges into elegant solutions for homeowners. We’re building a platform that efficiently and accurately handles billions of dollars at scale, creates a great experience for homeowners, and quickly delivers high-quality features. We’re serving tens of thousands of homeowners across the country on our technology platform — the next step is to continually improve our systems and scale to millions of homeowners across the country. Our tech stack is built on Python, React, Docker, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform.

We’re looking for a Tech Lead Manager to support Valon’s growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll lead 3+ engineers across one team, working closely with your reports and partnering with product, design, and operations to build the future of Valon. You’ll empower your team through mentorship, defining long-term strategy, strong technical leadership, business acumen, and more to ensure maximum impact and business value. You’ll also make hands-on engineering contributions to Valon’s core product with a focus on technical design and an opportunity to work across the stack.
