Job Description

The Technical Compliance Specialist/Coordinator will be responsible for responding to routine requests for information and completing compliance documentation, including DPIA, DSA, and cybersecurity questionnaires. This role requires a blend of technical understanding, understanding of risk management and controls and regulatory knowledge to ensure accurate and efficient completion of paperwork related to our services and infrastructure.

Initially, this role would be ideally fulfilled on an β€œon-demand” basis with capacity to ramp up or down in line with our business needs. As our business grows the role may move to part-time, then full-time, and may encompass additional responsibilities such as training, business risk management and integration of compliance tools or software that automate/streamline processes and in the long term lead to managing our business compliance with third-party audited standards (for example, SOC 2 Type 2 or ISO27001).

Key responsibilities

  • Receive, manage and respond to and manage incoming requests for DPIA, DSA, and cybersecurity documentation.
  • Complete paperwork accurately, ensuring all technical details are correctly represented.
  • Liaise with internal technical teams to gather necessary information or clarifications.
  • Stay updated with data protection and cybersecurity regulations most relevant to our target markets (US, UK, AUS) including GDPR, FERPA and COPPA.
  • Maintain a repository of completed documentation for reference and future use.
  • Continuously improve the documentation process, identifying opportunities to improve automation, efficiency and clarity.
  • Collaborate with sales, onboarding and customer service teams to address any compliance-related queries from potential or existing customers.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Technical knowledge: Familiarity and experience with understanding and explaining technology and technical concepts involved in cloud services, networking, security, identity, SAML SSO, and digital service delivery in B2B (ideally Education) contexts.
  • Security knowledge: Understanding of common security practices including NIST CyberSecurity Framework, NIST SP 800, ISO 27002, FedRAMP and CIS Controls.
  • Statutory knowledge: Understanding of data privacy and cybersecurity statutory compliance requirements in target markets including GDPR, DPA, CPRA, GAPP, ISO 27701, FERPA and COPPA.
  • Documentation: Ability to complete compliance paperwork accurately and efficiently. Strong written communication skills with an eye for detail. Ability to translate technical information into clear, compliant documentation.
  • Organisational skills: Ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines efficiently.
  • Collaborative mindset: Ability to work closely with technical, sales, and customer service teams.

Desirable qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Law).
  • Relevant certifications in data protection or cybersecurity.
  • Experience in accurately responding to requests for DPIA, DSA, and cybersecurity documentation.
  • Experience in the education technology sector or digital education delivery.
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
