Job Description
Misapplied drug discounts cost billions of dollars annually. The cost is measured in countless human hours, too. At Kalderos, we are building a drug discount platform that combines data from all stakeholders to provide clarity and consistency in how discounts are identified and paid. We have a 75 second video on our homepage at http://www.kalderos.com which explains more.
Our team members make the most important contribution to our success with drug discount management. We thrive on delivering value to our customers, the problems we solve, the innovations we discover, and the feedback from our peers. Our team is passionate about what we do. We are looking for people to join our company and our mission.
That’s where you come in!
What You’ll Do:Kalderos is a data analytics company and has data intensive customer relationships. Our Customer Success team owns the relationships with our customers and are accountable for value delivery. Our Data Management team acquires and loads the data from our customers. As a Technical Director, you will work on the Technical Operations team to provide the analysis and recommendations to ensure that we make data-driven decisions as we work with each customer. You notice common patterns and challenges and share them with the Data Platform team (which is part of Product Management) so they can be addressed for all customers. You work with Customer Success to define and document our standard work processes, and have the enthusiasm and skills for continuous data-driven improvement. You communicate with company and client stakeholders in a compelling way and are a good listener.
The Technical Operations team is newly formed at Kalderos. You will have the opportunity to define the working norms and interactions with internal stakeholders to maximize the value you can provide to them and to our customers. We expect this function will scale as our company grows, and there will be many opportunities for career development and promotion.
This role is part Data Analyst, part Data Engineer, and part Consultant. It’s similar to a Sales Engineer, but instead of interacting with prospects, you’ll engage with our clients. It’s similar to a Data Analyst role, but you’ll operate at a higher level of autonomy and be more directly involved with our customers. However, you don’t need experience as a Data Analyst, a Data Engineer, and a Consultant in order to be a strong candidate for this role. If you only have experience in one or two of these roles, we’d still like to hear from you.
What You’ll Bring:- We expect all team members to understand our core values, which you can read more about at https://www.kalderos.com/company/culture. You will be expected to align your actions with and inform your decisions using these core values. You should be prepared to discuss what these values mean to you during your interviews.
- You have excellent data analysis and related technical skills. When presented with a data-related question, you can:
- develop a hypothesis for the answer
- construct, validate, and execute a database query to answer the question
- package and/or visualize the resulting data in an easy to consume way
- and explain the impact of your discoveries.
- You are fluent in multiple data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau, QlikSense, PowerBI, SQL, Snowflake, R, Python). We use Tableau, SQL, Snowflake and Python but we don’t care if you have experience working with these specific tools. We are more interested in your ability to select and use tools to solve data analysis problems.
- You develop strong data-informed opinions and quickly change those opinions when presented with new information.
- You are comfortable presenting and discussing your findings with your colleagues and with our customers, in both virtual or in-person settings. Our customer stakeholders include executives at Fortune 500 companies. You anticipate questions you will be asked, and prepare answers for those questions in advance. You are situationally aware in these meetings, know how to read your audience, and are comfortable saying “I don’t know, but I will find out”.
- You will operate in a dynamic environment where problems arise that must be managed and solved, often under tight time constraints. You are comfortable identifying, addressing, and escalating these issues and owning them until they are fixed. You are comfortable adjusting your priorities and work activities to best adapt to this dynamic environment.
- Although this role has a Director title, you will not initially have any people reporting to you. You provide technical direction and insight to our clients, you don’t lead a team of managers who each have their own direct reports. You will report to the Head of Product, Engineering, Data, and Design.
- 4+ years of experience in a similar or adjacent role
- You might have a degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, statistics, or mathematics. You might not. You might have an MBA. You might not. We care more about what you can do and how you do it than the path you took to get here.
These are not requirements, but you can set yourself apart:
- if you have experience and a desire to work in a fast-growing, venture capital backed startup. You are familiar with the high velocity, volume, and ambiguity of work in a startup environment and see it as an opportunity to drive outsized impact.
- by having previous experience working with drug claim data
