Technical Lead, (Fullstack) Version Control

About the Team

The Version Control team aims at making the idea of version control simpler and easier to use for all personas, not just developers. At Postman, we are building a massively multiplayer experience that allows users to be able to work with their peers in real time. This requires a well structured version control system to back it up as well as make it easier for users to contribute and iterate on their APIs.

With features like Forking, Pull Requests, Watching, and Changelog, our vision is to build a generic platform that can be extended to any structure with great performance and stability.

What you'll be doing:

• Head the engineering strategy and implementation for multiple cross-team initiatives while aligning to product expectations

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team made up of people from Product, Design, Quality and Security

• On-board, mentor, and off-board engineers; play a key role in hiring and growing the team

• Perform code reviews and play a part in guiding team members through their technical growth

• Identify areas for and champion initiatives around architectural and maturity improvements

About You:

• 5+ years of experience building distributed systems at scale

• Experience in building products from scratch

• Understand the nuances of making decisions based on engineering, product and user constraints.

• You have empathy towards users and are product oriented

• You possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Past experience with Javascript, Node.js, React, and a strong understanding of web fundamentals is a plus

• Past experience in building collaborative applications is a big plus
