Job Description

Team: IT

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Technical Lead / Solution Architect in the United States.

This role is a senior technical leadership position responsible for architecting, guiding, and delivering large-scale federal IT systems that support mission-critical communications and data management platforms. You will lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams across software, DevSecOps, QA, and infrastructure functions, ensuring seamless integration and high-quality delivery across complex environments. Operating within a highly regulated federal context, you will define architectural direction, oversee end-to-end solution delivery, and ensure compliance with security, accessibility, and governance standards. This position blends hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight, requiring strong collaboration with government stakeholders and internal program leadership. You will play a key role in shaping engineering practices, driving DevSecOps maturity, and ensuring production stability across nationwide systems. This is a remote-first role with periodic on-site engagement in the National Capital Region.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and coordinate a multi-disciplinary engineering organization including software engineers, systems engineers, DevSecOps teams, QA, database specialists, and technical writers.
  • Own the end-to-end technical architecture, health, and performance of enterprise-scale platforms supporting federal communications and data management systems.
  • Direct Operations & Maintenance activities, including defect resolution, system upgrades, reporting, and platform stability enhancements.
  • Lead the full systems engineering lifecycle for enhancements, from requirements and design through development, testing, deployment, and post-release support.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant system design aligned with federal frameworks.
  • Oversee CI/CD pipelines, including source control strategy, build automation, automated testing, and security scanning integration.
  • Guide large-scale data modernization initiatives, including database migrations and business intelligence platform transformations.
  • Ensure cybersecurity compliance in collaboration with security teams, including ATO support, STIG hardening, POA&Ms, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Lead Agile Release Train execution using SAFe or hybrid Agile/DevSecOps methodologies across multiple delivery teams.
  • Present technical updates and architecture decisions in Program Management Reviews, Engineering Boards, and federal governance forums.
  • Provide 24/7 support oversight for critical incidents and lead root cause analysis for production issues.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
    • 8+ years of progressive IT engineering and delivery experience.
    • 5+ years of leadership experience managing multi-team software engineering organizations in a federal IT environment.
    • Strong background in solution architecture, systems engineering, and enterprise platform delivery.
    • Hands-on experience with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment workflows.
    • Experience leading large-scale database systems (Oracle, SQL Server) and data migration initiatives.
    • Proven experience with BI/analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, COGNOS) at enterprise scale.
    • Strong understanding of federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST 800-53, ATO processes, STIGs, POA&Ms).
    • Familiarity with accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.0) and federal compliance requirements.
    • Experience operating within SAFe or other scaled Agile delivery models.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage technical and executive audiences.
    • U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain or maintain DHS Public Trust clearance.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and federal market benchmarks.
      • Fully remote work model with flexibility and work-life balance support.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
      • 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match options.
      • Paid time off, holidays, and family-friendly leave policies including parental leave.
      • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
      • Employee recognition programs and performance feedback culture.
      • Wellness and employee assistance programs supporting mental and physical health.
      • Exposure to mission-critical federal programs with high technical impact and visibility.
