The Opportunity

As a dedicated Technical Product Manager Senior, you will be responsible for supporting, managing, and monitoring Consumer Lending applications to include applications controls, system accesses management, supporting application audits, enhancements to reduce application risks, monitoring the flow of data through the Consumer Lending applications and processes. Position will partner with Consumer Lending Process Owners and Product Owners by supporting business planning to include research, development, planning and implementation of applications to increase business viability and ensure compliance and/or product competitiveness and profitable growth. Assists in the development solutions to influence business decisions for relevant Company or Staff Agency or line(s) of business. Identifies opportunities to change, enhance, or streamline exiting business programs. Identifies and assists in the solution of regulatory and/or operational gaps within the experience to mitigate key risks with financial, reputational or member harm.

The Technical Product Manager has working knowledge of their business and the correlated technology domains. Contributes to the creation of data-driven business and technology strategies to achieve operational objectives and help influence cross-functional teams to ensure business and technology objectives are aligned with clear action plans to deliver solutions. They are responsible for assisting the business in identifying and managing risks, performance issues, and controls related to their domain. They must also be able to set context and goals with their project teams and help monitor systems on a recurring basis.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX or Plano, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Identifies and monitors Information Technology General Controls (ITGCs) and Business Application Controls (BACs) to mitigate IT risks.
  • Leverages data to provide insights that allow business and IT teams to envision, define, and develop technology solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Works with IT to understand industry technical solutions to drive build vs. buy recommendations.
  • Key participant in the development of detailed product features, requirements and develops implementation plans/roadmaps.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify dependencies that impact the roadmap.
  • Helps prioritize and oversees product backlog and releases.
  • Assists with the development of business cases for technology solutions.
  • Assists leadership to facilitate product/capability solution sessions to drive the most effective and compliant solution given the current technology and business constraints.
  • Leverages problem-solving techniques to understand, establish, and report on system health/performance.
  • Works with the business and technology to ensure data flow diagrams are accurate and that required data is stored to facilitate operations and analysis.
  • Serves as a resource to the team and helps on-board new team members.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 6 years in a technical product development role, such as technical product manager, software engineer, development manager, business analyst, or architect that includes experience in agile, innovation, problem solving, analytics and system design/ownership.
  • Experience in technical program/product management gathering requirements, generating user stories, and proposing solutions that meet the business need.
  • Proven ability to make data-driven decisions while balancing product quality and speed-to-market.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of business domain laws and regulations.
  • Expert knowledge of Project Management/agile scrum process and agile product owner role.
  • Knowledge in Business Case and CBA development.
  • Proven ability to understand and discuss technology concepts, trade-offs and new opportunities with both business and technical team members.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and demonstrated ability to influence peers and leaders without formal authority.

What sets you apart:

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner [optional].
  • 3+ years' experience supporting product management, project management, and/or risk and controls within the banking sector.
  • 6+ months experience in Consumer Lending in either acquisition, servicing, or underwriting.
  • 6+ months experience managing Consumer Lending applications.
  • 6+ months experience writing, enhancing, monitoring, testing and/or evidencing application controls.
  • 4+ years leading projects and applications changes as a subject matter authority or other point of contact.
  • Functional knowledge of Consumer Lending Laws and Regulations.
  • 6+ months experience testing Consumer Lending system processes and researching control failures.
  • Experience representing business applications and controls in 2nd and 3rd line audit and risk assessments.
  • Experience in CL system access and entitlement oversight with focus on segmentation of duties guidelines.
  • Functional knowledge of Turbo Risk, TPM Studio, BARR, process management, Knowledge Central.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $99,160 - $189,530

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
