Overview

The Microsoft Strategic Missions and Technologies (SMT) division focuses on next-generation technology solutions, including specialized teams empowering telecommunications providers; engineering teams who are helping to carry out challenging missions and connecting the cloud to satellites in space; worldwide research teams leading the way to scalable, accessible quantum computing; and the key technology partner to the U.S. Federal government and its partners for achieving their diverse organizations' missions through digital transformation.

As a Technical Program Manager II, you will be responsible for the planning, engineering, and management of Azure-related products and services that enable the US government, its allies, the defense industrial base, and other industries as they leverage Microsoft's government clouds. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the success and growth of Azure offerings. This role requires in-depth knowledge of cloud technology and proficient product management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers to understand their needs, translate those needs into an engineering backlog, and then understand what they're experiencing when using our product
  • Own the definition and execution of a product engineering backlog
  • Prioritize the backlog relative to achieving measurable business and customer adoption goals
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including product development, sales, and technical support to deliver a product experience that spans a customer's touchpoints with Microsoft
  • Understand compliance frameworks relative to how our products are accredited and used by our customers
  • Generate training materials and facilitate user events to drive successful use of our products in support of their goals

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years' experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • Or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
    • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven analytical, problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Experience with product development tools and technologies
  • Technical experience with cloud IaaS and PaaS services
  • Experience building products for US government or defense industrial base
  • Certifications in project management or product management

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
