Technical Project Manager

SVT’s Customer Journey extends to the left and well to the right of the point where a sale is executed. One of the first steps once a sale closes is deployment – where a solution is designed, implemented, and put into production at a customer site.  This process is managed by our project management team. As an integral member of the project execution team, the Technical PM must not only manage the plan and deliverables, but also be a key member of the solution team. This means having an in-depth understanding of the work being undertaken in the project and contributing to the overall project success. 

As a Technical Project Manager on the Project Management team, you’re responsible for owning our customer projects from cradle to grave. You’ll work with our sales teams to kick off the project. You’ll create the project schedule and milestones with the customer. You’ll work with our Solution Architects, Project Development, and Project Deployment teams to ensure each phase of the project is completed and ready for the next phase. You’ll communicate every detail of the deployment back to the customer, actioning feedback and escalating when necessary. When the project wraps up, you’ll get signoff from the customer, manage invoicing, and drive briefings and handoffs to the support team.    

Our long term success with a customer, and their journey with SVT is dependent on a well-managed and executed deployment project.  You’re the first face that the customer will see post-sale, and your professionalism will dictate the kind of relationship that we have with that customer for the remainder of their journey.  

Please note that this role requires occasional travel (under 20%) and is fully remote. 

A potential day in the life of SVT’s Technical Project Manager:  

• Manage new project intake, development of project plans and coordination of kickoff meetings
• Create, publish, communicate and maintain key milestone status to internal and external customers
• Proactively seek ways to identify, communicate and mitigate project risks  
• Manage project scope and change control process
• Drive checkpoint & status updates on in-flight projects
• Develop project-related collateral, including project plan, issue lists and executive updates 
• Coordinate invoicing of projects where critical milestones have been achieved
• Manage project closure, briefing & hand-off to Account Management and Support teams
• Act as escalation point for both technical and account-related issues on projects midflight
• Drive continuous improvement in project execution
• Ensure standard work process and execution framework is followed.   

Required skills/qualifications:   

• 3+ years experience in managing technically complex projects involving cross-functional resources 
• 3+ years experience using commercially available project management software
• 1+ years of industrial automation industry experience (WMS or WCS)  
• Experience managing enterprise software implementation projects 
• Understanding of software development lifecycles 
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders or resources in cross-functional groups 
• Outstanding organizational, written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to switch project contexts without adversely impacting productivity
• Outstanding time management to meet service levels 
• Ability to define business requirements
• Drive initiatives and processes for continuous improvement
• Proactively seek ways to identify, communicate and mitigate project risks
• Fluent in English
• Flexibility and willingness to travel 

You get bonus points for having: 

• Bachelor’s degree in a project management related discipline, or equivalent military experience 
• PMP or similar industry project management certification 
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Smartsheet and Aha! or similar platforms
