Senior Home & Kitchen Editor - Temporary

Forbes Vetted is seeking an experienced editor to own home & kitchen product coverage for our growing commerce editorial team while our Senior Home & Kitchen Editor is on maternity leave. This role will be responsible for overseeing all home & kitchen content, which includes product guides, roundups, retailer news, tested product reviews, Vs. posts, how-tos and product odes. You will work closely with the content strategy team to optimize evergreen content as well as the reviews editor to assign hands-on tested product reviews. The senior home & kitchen editor reports to the Forbes Vetted executive editor.

This is a remote role with an option to commute to the Jersey City Forbes office if desired. This role is a temporary role covering maternity leave for 7 months. 

Responsibilities:

• Full ownership of home & kitchen product coverage, which includes furniture, decor, large and small appliances, lawn and garden maintenance, as well as cleaning and pet products
• Planning the edit calendar for your section, with guidance from the deputy editor and Sr strategy editor
• Managing a small team of staff writers and editors
• Assigning and editing home & kitchen content, as well as overseeing and top-editing content assigned by your direct reports
• Participating in sales event coverage, including potential shifts over holiday weekends like Memorial Day, Labor Day and Black Friday through Cyber Monday
• Some writing and product reviewing
• Assisting with social content creation for your section
• Tracking content performance against team and individual goals

The ideal candidate:

• Is an expert in all things home & kitchen with 5-7+ years of experience covering products for the home
• Is an excellent manager with a proven track record of success leading a (remote) team
• Has impeccable writing, editing and reporting skills as well as a network of experienced home writers as well as PR contacts
• Has a strong understanding SEO as well as affiliate / commerce content strategy
• Has direct prior experience editing product reviews as well as testing products
• Is user-focused and understands editorial independence, but can deftly balance this with the needs of the business
• Is eager to innovate and experiment editorially to help grow the Forbes Vetted audience

The hourly rate for this role is $60.00 - $60.00
